Tammy Miller brings more than 30 years of industry experience to KMC, bridging her time between marketing communications and working with the KMC events team on everything from creative concepts to on-site assistance. Tammy loves working with a variety of clients at KMC and enjoys the opportunity to learn new things and grow professionally with such a talented team.
Tammy holds a bachelor’s of journalism degree with an emphasis in magazine design from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her past experiences include working as a creative manager and as a communications director, as well as brand management, contract marketing and graphic design for multiple companies. Outside of KMC, Tammy enjoys spending time with her family and all of their furry friends. They enjoy catching the latest movies, attending musicals by mid-Missouri theater companies, golfing, fishing, and cheering on the Mizzou Tigers.
Susan Jones is an events manager and financial specialist for KMC. She helps the team keep track of everything, from event budgets to bookkeeping. Susan enjoys working together with a great team of women at KMC and, while finances are her specialty, she can also be found onsite at KMC events.
Susan was born and raised in Brookfield, Mo., and graduated from Missouri Western State University with a degree in business administration. Before Susan joined the KMC team, she worked as a mortgage loan supervisor for Boone County National Bank. Susan and her husband have lived in Columbia for more than twenty years and have raised two teenage children here. When she’s not working, Susan looks forward to spending weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks with family and friends. She’s also busy volunteering for local events in the community.
Katie first joined KMC in 2008 and has enjoyed watching KMC grow and serve a diverse group of clients. With a graduate degree in creative writing and a background in public relations, Katie is passionate about working with clients to best tell their stories to reach the right audiences.
Raised in Columbia, Katie is a Hickman High School graduate who ventured out of state to attend Drake University, earning a bachelor’s in English and psychology, summa cum laude, and then a master’s of fine arts in creative writing from George Mason University. Before joining KMC, Katie worked as the communications coordinator for the University of Missouri System. and as the publications manager for The Association of Writers and Writing Programs. She spends time outside of KMC chasing her dog and two kids around.
Claire is a self-described jack of all trades with experience in marketing, graphic design, account management, social media and digital strategy. Her favorite part about working at KMC is getting to see the entire creative process through from the initial brainstorming session to final production, whether that’s a printed piece, a social media campaign or an event. Besides being KMC’s designer extraordinaire, she is our go-to tech guru.
Claire is a Mizzou grad with bachelors’ degrees in journalism and international studies, and a minor in business. She hails from Omaha, Neb., where she grew up a Husker fan, but she has since been converted into a devout Mizzou fan. Claire also serves as the marketing director for a small environmental consulting firm where she oversees all firm communications, fosters client relationships and creates and executes marketing campaigns and digital strategy. She stays busy outside of KMC with two dogs and two cats and is always on the lookout to add more to her pet brood.
Shelly enjoys working on events with clients to put their ideas in words, then putting those ideas to paper, and finally bringing that paper to life as an event, one step at a time. Her job involves thinking outside the box every day to come up with a fresh perspective and ideas for events. She makes sure all events — from a corporate family campout to a holiday gala for 3,000 — go smoothly. This means everything from putting the final touches on decor, to managing staff on site, to keeping the program running on time, to orchestrating dozens of vendors with set-up and tear down. Shelly’s talent and years of experience in the event industry on a global scale help create events that are unique and exceed our clients’ expectations.
Shelly is a Mizzou grad with a degree in business administration and an emphasis in marketing. She has worked in all facets of event management, from a convention services manager at a five-star hotel in Utah to a marketing and event manager for an incentive company and a local hospital. Shelly is passionate about traveling and hopes to check off her remaining continent, Antarctica, someday in the future.

Wendy founded KMC in 2004 and crossed a major item off one of her many lists — starting her own company. Her passion for marketing communications and events came from her background in corporate communications, where she saw firsthand what clients needed — someone who is on the same page with them and is always thinking of new and creative ways to meet their needs. Wendy serves as the lead for client relations and loves working on the big picture and strategy for clients.
Wendy is a Mizzou J-school grad with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in English. After a four-year stint in Washington, D.C. at Hallmark Cards National Affairs Office, she moved back to CoMo to work in corporate communications before striking out on her own ten years later. Whether she’s at KMC or outside of the office, she can be found with her signature purple pen busy making lists. She and her husband, Steve, stay busy with three kids.
